A Himalayan sound bath is an immersive, deeply restful experience where you lie down fully clothed and allow the therapeutic sounds of authentic Himalayan singing bowls to wash over and through you. Each bowl is hand-hammered from a blend of metals and produces rich, resonant tones that work directly with your nervous system to guide your body into a state of deep rest and restoration. It's not a performance, it's a practice. And it might just be the most profound rest you've ever had.
-
Great question. Himalayan singing bowls are the traditional ones, hand-forged metal bowls originating from the Himalayan regions of Tibet, Nepal and India. They produce warm, complex, layered tones with lots of overtones. Crystal bowls are made from pure quartz crystal and produce a purer, more sustained single tone. Both are beautiful and therapeutic, I use handmade Himalayan bowls in my sessions because I love the depth and richness of the sound they create.
-
Absolutely not. If you can lie down and breathe, you're already doing it right. There is no correct way to experience a sound bath, no meditation background needed, no special skills, no experience whatsoever. In fact, first-timers often have the most powerful sessions because they arrive with zero expectations and their body simply does what it needs to do.
-
Honestly? Different for everyone. Some people describe it as floating. Some feel the vibrations physically moving through their body. Some drift into a dream-like state they can't quite describe. Some cry (the good kind). Some fall completely and deeply asleep. Most people walk out feeling like they've had a full week off — lighter, calmer and somehow both energised and deeply rested at the same time. It's one of those things that's genuinely hard to put into words until you've tried it.

Comfortable clothing you can lie down in for an extended period. Think lounge wear, yoga clothes, anything soft. Layers are really helpful because your body temperature drops during deep rest, so even on a warm day you might find yourself reaching for a blanket. Cosy socks are a very good idea. I provide mats, blankets and eye pillows, but you're absolutely welcome to bring your own blanket if you have a favourite one.
-
Not a thing. I provide everything you need, mat, blanket, eye pillow and a fully prepared space. Just bring yourself (and maybe a water bottle for afterwards). That's genuinely it.
-
A light meal 1–2 hours before is ideal, you don't want to be hungry, but a heavy meal just before lying down isn't the most comfortable combination. Drink plenty of water in the hours leading up to your session and make sure you have some with you for afterwards too.
-
I'm afraid not, once a session has started I can't admit latecomers, as opening the door mid-session disrupts the experience for everyone already inside. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your session starts to get settled and relaxed before we begin. I promise the extra 10 minutes of preparation is part of the experience.
-
Please do, it's one of the loveliest things to witness. Falling asleep during a sound bath is your body's way of saying "yes, finally, thank you." The vibrations continue to move through your body regardless of whether your conscious mind is present for it, so you are still receiving every benefit.
Think you may snore? Try lying on your side or prop your head up, this ensures everyone enjoys the acoustic journey.
-
Then you're human. A wandering mind is completely normal and there is no pressure whatsoever to achieve any particular mental state. The sound will do the work. Your only job is to lie there. If thoughts come, let them. If you feel fidgety at first, that's normal too. Most people find the mind settles naturally within the first few minutes once the bowls begin.
-
No problem at all, your wellbeing always comes first. If you need to slip out quietly, please do. There's no awkwardness and no disruption as long as you move gently. Just let me know beforehand if you think you might need to leave early and I'll make sure you're near the door.
-
Completely normal and incredibly common. Sound healing has a way of reaching the parts of us we tend to keep very well guarded and when the nervous system finally relaxes, sometimes things surface. Tears, laughter, a wave of something you can't quite name, all of it is welcome.
Tissues are always available and there is absolutely no judgment in this space. Ever.

I ask all pregnant clients to check with their midwife or GP before attending, particularly in the first trimester. If you have the all-clear from your healthcare provider, please let me know when booking and I will adjust the session accordingly and ensure you are fully comfortable and supported throughout.
-
Many people find sound healing deeply supportive for anxiety, it's one of the most common reasons people come to me in the first place. The nervous system response triggered by the bowls is genuinely calming at a physiological level, not just a nice feeling. That said, if you have a diagnosed anxiety condition, please complete the health check form and feel free to drop me a message before booking so we can have a chat about what to expect.
-
Sound healing is safe for the vast majority of people, but I do ask everyone to complete a short health check form before their first session. Please let me know if you have epilepsy, a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, have had surgery in the last three months, or are in your first trimester of pregnancy. None of these are automatic barriers, but I need to know so I can make sure you're properly supported.
-
Sound healing is a complementary therapy, it works beautifully alongside conventional medicine and can support overall wellbeing, stress reduction and recovery, but it is not a replacement for professional medical treatment or diagnosis. If you have a specific health concern, please always speak to your GP or healthcare provider first.
-
Many people notice a significant shift after just one session, it's not unusual to walk out feeling genuinely different. That said, like most wellbeing practices, the benefits build and deepen with regularity. Monthly sessions are a lovely way to maintain that sense of calm and keep your nervous system well-resourced. Think of it less like a treatment and more like a practice.
-
What a beautiful thing to give someone. Yes absolutely. Get in touch and I'll sort a gift voucher for you. It's one of those gifts that genuinely stays with people.
-
Phones need to be fully switched off during all sessions, not on silent, not on do not disturb, off out of respect for everyone in the room. I'm happy to take a couple of photos of the space before we begin if you'd like something to share. Just ask.

I'd say: the fact that you're curious is enough of a reason to try. You don't need to be spiritual, you don't need to meditate, you don't need to believe in anything in particular. You just need to be willing to lie down for an hour and see what happens. The worst case scenario is a deeply restful hour of your life. Most people find it to be considerably more than that. Drop me a message if you'd like to chat it through first, I love a good question.
